Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) is a flagship
scheme of the Ministry of Ayush approved and notified on 29.09.2014. National AYUSH

Mission (NAM) launched during the 12 Plan for implementing through States/UTs.
The National AYUSH Mission (NAM) envisages better access to AYUSH services
through increase in number of AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries, ensure availability
of AYUSH drugs and trained manpower. It also aims at improvement in quality of
AYUSH Education through enhancement in the number of upgraded educational
Institutions, sustained availability of Quality Raw materials and improved availability of
quality Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU & H) drugs through increase
in number of Pharmacies, setting up of Drug Laboratories in the states which are
responsible for enforcement mechanism of ASU & H drugs.

The Union Cabinet, during its meeting held on 20th March 2020,
approved the proposal of Ministry of Ayush to operationalise 10% of the
Health and Wellness Centres of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. 12,500
Ayush HWCs being made operationalised by upgrading existing Ayush
Dispensaries / Health Sub-centre through State/UT Governments in
Centrally Sponsored Scheme mode and under the broad umbrella of
National Ayush Mission (NAM) in a phased manner by the year 2023-24.

The key principle is for functional integration with existing
establishment for providing comprehensive care by using Standard protocols
and guidelines, up-gradation of infrastructure, community mobilisation for
self-care, sensitization & capacity building of health care providers,
expansion of services, linkages with higher-level facilities and documentation
with the help of IT platform are the highlights of the activities.
4.3 Insurance Coverage for Ayush Health Care services:
Under IRDAI regulations, about 27 insurance companies are offering more than
140 policy products covering one or more systems of Ayush treatments since 2016.
