Strengths/Success Factors

                            1. Sending TTM doctors to study medication formulations from other sites to
                                enhance knowledge and skills.

                            2. Collaborating with other organisations, such as universities, to analyse reserpine

                                content in Rauwolfia root and in Ya Rayom Lom Soong.
                            3. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as medical doctors
                                and pharmacists.

                            4. Planning for future research and data collection on the use of Ya Rayom Lom

                                Soong.


                     Recommendations for continued development: To ensure quality and supply of the
                     medication to meet the demand of antihypertensive market
                            • Select raw materials directly from farmers, bypassing middlemen, and determine

                               alternative cultivation sources for future large-scale production.

                            • Improve the production process.
                            • Expand distribution sites.



                     6. Watthana Nakhon Hospital, Sa Kaeo Province

                            Best practice: Intermediate Care (IMC) Patient Rehabilitation Centre


                     Background and Significance of the Problem:

                            Stroke is a significant public health problem worldwide, with an increasing number

                     of patients in Thailand each year. Sa Kaeo Provincial Health Office developed provincial
                     Thai traditional medicine (TTM) service plan and designated Watthana Nakhon Hospital
                     as the Rehabilitation Centre for stroke patients in 2014. The hospital therefore developed

                     Clinical Practice Guideline on comprehensive rehabilitation programme for stroke patients

                     and later became the Intermediate Care Rehabilitation Centre for stroke patients. In
                     addition, the hospital also developed an “intermediate care rehabilitation system”, most
                     beneficial for patients in three disease groups, namely stroke patients, traumatic brain

                     injury (TBI) patients, and spinal cord injury patients. The goal is at least 70% of these

                     groups of patients can get access to the screening and assessment of their conditions
                     and continuously receive rehabilitation for a period of six months after the incidence,
                     through the collaboration between Thai traditional medical doctors, alternative medicine
