2) Thai Herbal Preparation Pharmacopoeia (THPP)

To improve the quality of Thai herbal medicine
products commonly used in the health service

system, DTAM appointed Thai Herbal Preparation
Pharmacopoeia Committee and three Expert

Committees on the identification of crude drugs,
on the physico-chemical specifications, and on

the identification of the microscopical
specifications. The Committees together with the

Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine, DTAM have developed ‘Thai Herbal
Preparation Pharmacopoeia (THPP)’ with the aim to establish the standard

specifications of Thai traditional medicine preparations in the National List
of Essential Herbal Medicines. The first edition of THPP was published in

2018 and the second edition in 2020. The third edition, THPP 2022,
contains a total of 41 monographs of 24 TTM preparations. Monographs

of standard specifications of these Thai herbal preparations are available for

10. Thai Traditional Medicine Research Institute

“Thai Traditional Medicine Research Institute” is a division-level office under

DTAM responsible for research and development of herbal medicines and Thai traditional
medicine therapies, through pre-clinical and clinical studies, to obtain scientific

evidence to support the use in health service system. In addition, Thai Traditional
Medicine Research Institute has also offered clinical research training courses for TTM

practitioners and other interested health professionals in order to increase the number
of competent researchers to conduct research in TTM in many hospital settings all over

the country.
