country. Different levels of human resources such as basic level, certificate
level, bachelor level and post graduate level are accredited and regulated by
NAMC. Health Professionals of various traditional medicine such as
Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Yoga, Acupuncture etc. are registered in Nepal
Health Professional Council (NHPC).
Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in T&CM are offered at university level.
The Government also recognises certain training programmes run by institution
under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT)
for T&CM technicians and equivalent.
3. Traditional Healers (practitioners having no academic qualifications)
Their knowledge, skills, technology and recipes are transferring from
generations to generations and are preserved. These knowledge and formulations
are generally based on Ayurveda one way or another. There is provision of
registering traditional healers also with certain eligibility in NAMC. Many
people who neither have academic qualification nor are traditional healers
are also still practicing traditional medicine referring to knowledge of Ayurveda
from various classical texts including religious texts. Yogic practices and healing
practices are also embedded in various religious and socio-cultural ceremonies
in Nepal.
4. Other traditional system of medicines practiced in Nepal
• Yoga & Naturopathy- having various private and community institutions

• Homoeopathy –having only a government hospital located in Kathmandu
valley, Lalitpur districts and private institutions for service delivery.
• Unani-A Unani dispensary is located in premise of Homeopathy hospital,
Laitpur
