The National Ayurveda Research and Training Centre (NARTC), Kirtipur is an
advanced and well facilitated government institution with its own hospital dedicated for
research and training activities in Traditional medicine systems of Nepal. However, Nepal
Health Research Council is still the highest regulatory and supervising authority backed
up by acts in various research activities including traditional medicine systems of Nepal.
NARTC is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Population, Government
of Nepal. NARTC was visioned and established as a national level model institute for
advancing research, training and patient care by Ayurveda and traditional systems of
T raditional Medicine Systems of BIMSTEC Member States – 2023 Report
medicine. The NARTC project began in November 2003 and was supported by the
People’s Republic of China. It is conducting various training activities and some research
activities in recent years.
