• Acupuncture & Acupressure & Moxibustion: Ayurveda Hospital, Naradevi,

a tertiary level government hospital is providing specialist level service of
Acupuncture & Acupressure & Moxibustion since last 40 years. Lately

many private service institutions and training institutions are being
established in Nepal. All Specialists level human resources are trained in

China.
• Amchi (Sowarigpa): is a traditional medical system practiced in Northern

part of Nepal which is more influenced by Tibetan system of medicine.

Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine
Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine (DoAA) is one of the three

departments of the ministry of health and population (MOHP) which is responsible for
overall management, planning, supervision, monitoring and evaluation of delivery of

Ayurveda and traditional health services. It promotes healthy lifestyle through its network
facilities all across the country. Ayurveda health services are being delivered through

382 institutions under Department of Ayurveda across the country. After the recent shift
of the country in federalism, various activities are overlapped with three levels of

government and DOA is playing a vital role in coordination among different levels of
government.
