                      9. Results and findings

The provisional findings mentioned in this report are the selected few of many
survey and mapping indicators such as elevation range, slope aspect, slope gradient,

forest type, habitat, distribution pattern, parts used, family count, total specimen collected,
                      total tracks, polygon and quadrats.

Most of the High-Altitude Medicinal Plants Survey and Mapping was conducted
in alpine scrub and fir forest covering a total area of 132.1963sqkm with elevations

ranging from 2599 to 5000 masl. Habitats like grassland, meadow, scree and shrub
were covered. Most of the slope aspects facing South and West with slope gradients

ranging from 5° to 85° were recorded. Most of the medicinal plants were found uniformly
distributed followed by patchy and sporadic patterns. The aerial parts and the whole

part of the medicinal plants were recorded to be the highest part of the medicinal plants
                      used.

Following the completion of the High-Altitude Medicinal Plants Survey and
Mapping in two Districts the data analysis and verification were conducted in a phased

manner and the provisional findings are as follows:
