Bangladesh government introduces Unani System of medicine, Ayurvedic Systems
of Medicine, and Herbal medicine as TM services. We are also providing specialty services
like Acupuncture, Cupping, Panchakarma, Yoga, Regimental therapy etc.
5. Number of Health Service facilities & TM Professionals
We have a 100 bedded government hospital with OPD, IPD facilities, 100 bedded
private hospital with OPD & IPD services and more than 29 private hospitals available
with OPD facilities. GOB has already set up 469 herbal gardens in the District and
Upazila Health Complex.
Total 867 registered graduate doctors and 4145 registered diploma physicians
& 6780 traditional healers are available in our country. Among them TM practitioners,
2 post-graduate, 454 graduates, and 2450 diploma of Unani system medicine. In
Ayurvedic system of medicine 03 post-graduate, 413 graduate, and 1695 diploma doctors.
Presently, 348 Medical Officers (Unani, Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic) are working in
different Government Medical College Hospitals, District Hospitals and Upazila Health
Complexes of Bangladesh and remaining are working in different NGOs and private
organisations. Total 569 health personnel are also working at different Districts and
Upazila hospitals.
6. Educational System
There are 2 undergraduate level Government Institute with an admission capacity
of 50 students per session, and 3 private institutions with an admission capacity of 180
per session. In diploma education, there are 01 Government College and 16 private
colleges for Unani and 10 private colleges for Ayurvedic are available in Bangladesh.
Total admission capacity is 1400 per year. The bachelor course is five years duration
with one year internship, total marks 4900 conducted by three professional examinations
under the public university. On the other hand the diploma education is four years with
