Education System for Human Resources and Regulation on Medicinal Products

1. Traditional Medicine System available in health service

system Myanmar Traditional Medicine

• Desana Naya system - based on Buddha’s teaching and natural phenomenon.
• Beithizza Naya system - based on Ayurvedic concepts.

• Netkhatta Naya system - based on calculations of zodiac of stars, planets,
time of birth and age.

• Veizzadhara Naya system - meditation, psychotherapy, sooth saying, charms,
mantra, supernatural therapies and practices of, alchemy.

2. Country Policy on Traditional Medicine

National Health Policy is promotion of research activities on TM included in

National Health Policy. “To reinforce the service and research activities of indigenous
medicine to international level and to involve in community health care activities”.

• Department of Traditional Medicine, Ministry of Health in central level
• State & Division of Traditional Medicine Department (15) in intermediate level

• District Traditional Medicine Department (50) in district level
• Township Traditional Medicine Department (211) in peripheral level
