(Wat Pho, alsoknown as the Temple of the Reclining
Buddha,is located near the Grand Palace and the Temple of
the Emerald Buddha. Itis the place where the knowledge of
Thai traditional medicine, Thai traditional massage (Nuad
Thai), andRuesiDudton (traditional stretch exercise)were
recorded and displayed asinscriptions on the marble tablets,
illustrations, and sculptures placed around the temple for
the people to learn from. In 2011, UNESCO recognizedWat
Pho with “Memory of the World” award and placed
theseEpigraphic Archives of Wat Phoon “the Memory of the
World International Register”for being of “outstanding
universal value”.
