3. Best Practices in Research:

3.1 Establishment of Research Councils:

The Ministry of Ayush has set up five Research Councils as Autonomous Institute
for undertaking research in Ayurveda (CCRAS), Homoeopathy (CCRH), Unani (CCRUM),

Siddha (CCRS) and Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN).
The research activities of the Councils include medicinal plant research

(Medico-ethno botanical survey, pharmacognosy and tissue culture), Drug Standardisation
Pharmacological Research, Clinical Research Literary Research & outreach activities.

The five research councils through its national, central and regional research institutes
carry out the research activities. Apart from the Ayush research councils, Indian Council

for Medical Research (ICMR) and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
also conduct research on Traditional Medicine through its institutes. There are 103

various National, Central and Regional Research Institutes across India under Government
sector.
